I want to set up solar power in my home. How would i be able to do that? Is there a guide somewhere that can help me set it up? Do you have any experience with it? I love the fact that i can actually do something to save the earth as an induvidual person.

If you can wait a while, a new solar technology will be available soon. The new technology is a plastic film that is coated with photo sensitive ink. It is flexible, converts a broader spectrum of light, more efficient, work at wider angles so it doesn’t have to track the sun, it’s cheaper and it comes in different colors. Check it out.

I found a site the other day that features information about the 2007 "Solar Decathlon," an event sponsored in part by the U.S Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. It’s cutting-edge stuff, but there are principles involved that can apply to anyone interested in going solar.
The event is designed to raise awareness among the general public about renewable energy and energy efficiency and what technologies are available today to help them reduce their energy usage. The winner of the competition is the team that best blends aesthetics and modern conveniences with maximum energy production and optimal efficiency.

They are really easy to install but does require you to read up a little and to know the local building codes. But in the end you do own something that you can say it is yours and you are not renting electric anymore.
I build my own panels have been for a long time . Its all simple you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure it out . You don’t need some guy calling himself a solar technician and selling you $30,000 dollars worth when you can easily do it your self for a fraction of the price . Don’t let them talk you into all the crap. Things like " All your panels have to be the same size " or " They all have to be the same kind " There’s diodes and regulators to take care of all that .
I get most of my solar needs off eBay . You can even contact the dealers they will give tuns of helpful info .
Like i said its so easy once you get the basics a ten year old can do it and EBay has every thing you will ever need for solar at a fraction of the price . And don’t worry about buying use panels the darn things last about for ever . They do have new ones as well but the used are just as good . Panels have been in use for over 50 years and still going . There not even sure what the life expectancy is on them .
